HEALING EXCHANGE

Mission and Vision

AHE envisions a world where those who experience trauma and chronic stress can heal and thrive in their daily lives, thereby creating healthy communities to promote peace and understanding for all life.

We provide a platform for people to overcome trauma, manage daily stress and create healthy living habits. The AHE Restoring Resiliency program is delivered to individuals and organizations in the U.S. and Rwanda who are working to help end the cycle of trauma, with particular emphasis on supporting mothers and children in Rwanda. The model is available as a training for trainers and as a community workshop, and is designed for global replication.

Ongoing projects

food security

We aid vulnerable farmers who have been significantly affected by the pandemic, with emergency food distribution, access to clean water and sanitation.

Mental Health

Since our inception we foster programs that support trauma healing and developing resiliency for everyday stress, including meditation and our unique Restoring Resiliency training.

Sustainability

In partnership with women in Rwanda and 3 Mountains, we help groups develop cooperatives and sustainable local businesses.

Our primary program

Restoring Resiliency

Our primary program is called Restoring Resiliency and we take a 3-part approach to help people empower themselves and remember who they were before the trauma.

1.- Heal includes overcoming trauma and developing resiliency skills.

2.- Connect includes cross-cultural exchange programs, farm visits, inter-country mentorship, and now virtual alternatives.

3.- Sustain includes entrepreneurship training and skills development, with mentorship and seed funding available for programs that have great promise for becoming self-sustaining, and which will support economic freedom amongst communities.

Acting on current issues

Our COVID response

We have also added emergency assistance for families impacted by Covid-19 and who are facing food insecurity. Our funding went primarily to a 90 day food distribution program, growing nutrient-dense food and now we are implementing a water irrigation system in the village which will offer year-round access to clean water, for drinking and farming.
